As part of Ras Al Khaimah preparations for Ramadan, slaughterhouses, boarder gates, fish markets, and live- stock market witnessed significant increase in the number of carcasses and shipments imported through the border gates; along with the imported fishes during the week prior to amadan. All slaughterhouses in Ras Al Khaimah have functioned at full capacity to meet the customers’ requirements. Therefore, the public Health and Safety Department “Veterinary Control and Service Section” intensified its efforts to face the significant increase in carcasses during the blessed month.
All the 108 doctors, butchers, and workers worked for about 15 hours daily. The production of the emirate’s slaughterhouses was 8305 carcasses of all kinds during the week prior to Ramadan. Meat was inspected to ensure its safety, quality, and suitability for human consumption.
The emirate’s market has received 60 tons of fishes which were inspected by the inspection teams to ensure their safety and quality according to the health measures. 20 livestock shipments that include 16047 sheep and goats and 47 food shipments weighing 83.5 tons crossed Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. The border gate also received 19 livestock shipments with total 347 sheep and goats and 200 meat shipments weighing 4.5 tons, between February 21 and March 2.
Ramadan annual campaign was launched by Public Health and Safety Department on February 26, 2025, to improve the control of the commercial markets and ensure the people’s health and safety. The campaign shall last until the end of Ramadan aiming to covering 90% of establishments working in handling food of animal origin including meat, poultry, and fish. The actions aim provide consumers with safe and healthy food over Ramadan.
